    True friends are rare to come by these days. Even if you believe you’ve connected with someone, how do you really know they are a true friend? This person is hard to find, often you will find that there may be someone who you thought you could trust but who may have let you down. It hurts and may make you wary of putting yourself out there but there are ways you can know if a friendship is true and how to hold onto that friend.

    A true friend is someone who will be there for you no matter what. Through good times, through bad times, they will stick by your side. They will be there still even when you fall on your face to help pick you up. They will not abandon you when the going gets tough. They will accept you for who you are without trying to change you but will be there to help you grow in new ways and expand your horizons. A friend will bring new and exciting things into your life and make it more rich.

    Trust is another important aspect. A true friend will keep your worst secrets as no doubt you will keep theirs. They will be honest and be someone you can depend on. He will listen and be someone you know you a talk things over with even if they may not have advice to share with you. Just having someone to talk to who you know you can trust and not have to worry about what you may say will drive them away is very beneficial. You should never have to be afraid to trust a friend in this category, as your friend should not be afraid to trust you with their deepest secrets.

    Friendship is a two-way street though. To find a true friend and keep them, you must in turn be the same as well. Be there for your friends in their times of need and share the good times with them. Be that someone your friend can depend on as well and offer them the same things they give to you. A friendship will fall apart fast if only one person is giving and putting effort in.

    If you are the only one making an effort, be honest. Either you two don’t click or the other person just isn’t a good friend. Trying to hang onto something that isn’t working will only cause hurt and frustration for the both of you.

    When you find that person you can connect to, hold onto them as true friends are rare. There will be bumps in the road but that is the test of true friendship if it can survive those bumps stronger and better than ever. St. Thomas Aquinas states “There is nothing on this earth more prized than friendship” and that quote holds true. You will find that there is nothing more valuable than having a true friend by your side to share life with.

According to The Harris Poll February 12, 2008 about 17% of people regretted having a tattoo. The main reason given was that they were too immature when they got the tattoo.     Usually the time we struggle most with the question of should I text him is in the beginning of dating or when we have just met a guy we find attractive and interesting.     As a rule when you should text him is only if he texts you first. There really is no other reason to text him unless he is your boyfriend already and your relationship is established.     You can also buy a disposable film camera for just about the same price as a pack of film. When you keep negatives, you have physical copies of your images that don’t take up digital space, and aren’t in danger of being lost if a hard drive or a computer crashes. You can also scan your negatives onto a computer if you should wish to store them that way. Film images often come out with extremely saturated color and an old-fashioned looking, grainy touch. Graphic design school students might find that they can use this old-fashioned effect to their advantage when working with photography images.

    On the other hand, the possibilities of digital technology seem endless in today’s world, and digital photography is no exception. Once you spend the money on a digital camera and memory cards, your images are free, whereas you must pay to develop negatives when working with film. Since the images are less expensive to produce, you have the freedom to shoot many more images, and put less pressure on each exposure to turn out well since you can shoot a limitless amount of images. You also have the advantage of instant feedback when working with a digital camera.

    Instead of waiting until your negatives are processed, the LCD screen on the camera lets you see the image immediately after you have shot it. You also have the advantage of being able to digitally change the film speed and shutter speed settings, whereas on a film camera you would have to adjust them manually. The digital camera certainly has many advantages over film photography methods, however there are some major setbacks as well. Digital images can only be stored, well, digitally! That means that there is a risk of losing them if hard drive or computer technology happened to fail on you (which it often does).

If you know someone well, changes in their normal behaviour are a good indication that something is bothering them.     Once the person is ready to confide, choose a suitable time and location to sit and talk. It should be somewhere where you are not going to be overheard, or constantly interrupted, and you should allow an infinite amount of time so that your friend does not feel pressured.

    5. Make sure that you really listen to what they are saying

    Lean towards them and make lots of eye contact to show that you are interested, and nod to demonstrate that you are following their account. Don’t interrupt, but let them maintain their flow, so that they can get things out of their system.

    6. Give some sensitive prompts

    If your friend is finding it difficult to express what they want to say, you could try to prompt them with a few gentle, yet probing questions, or make comments that move the conversation forward.

    Ask open questions that require more than a yes or no response, and keep your tone quiet and reassuring. Don`t be afraid to let your friend be silent for a few moments though. They might need time to compose their thoughts, so be sensitive and don’t push too hard.

    7. Don’t judge

    After you have heard what the other person has to say, you must then ensure that you are not judgmental about what they have revealed, and don’t, under any circumstances criticise their behaviour, or else they will instantly clam up against you. Remain supportive and sympathetic.

    8. Give some practical help

    If there isn’t anything that you can do, remind them that you are always there for them, and that they can feel free to open up to you any time they are feeling low. Knowing that they have a friend to confide in will be a weight off their minds, and talking things over can sometimes be the first step to healing.

    So, in order to get someone close to open up to you, you need to be supportive, tactful, discreet and not judgmental. Remind the other person that you are always there to lend an ear when they are troubled, and never betray their confidence.
